     I can only speak with my own experience.  I just had that problem 
yesterday when i change the sampling time interval of orcallator.se.  Later 
I realize I have to stop orcallator first, do the necessary chang, the start 
it again.   I had to delete the data I collect ealier that day.  i dont know 
if that's necessary in your case.
