I would try using the latest RRD tool and see if that works.  Get it
from

http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/rrdtool/pub/?M=D

If that doesn't work, I don't know enough about AIX to say what's wrong,
but you are using an old version of Perl.  Get the latest Perl 5.6.1
from (I've tried 5.8 and I don't think it's polished enough to use with
the tests I've done with it).
