[Orca-users] getting x to work

Hi,

I am on debian and when I type startx it fails. I need x so I can use gnome.
I have gnome installed but it doesn't work because x isn't working. I 
then want to be able to use orca.
So does anyone know how I can reconfigure x?
Will it ask me questions that I just have to answer?
How do I find out all the information it needs? Is there a command to do 
this like lspci?
