Not sure about what you may have forgotten but something I find very 
helpful in situations like this is verbose mode in the orca perl script.

When you startup the graphing portion of Orca, start it like this:

       $bindir/orca -verbose $prefix/lib/orcallator.cfg

This will keep it in the foreground and display pretty much everything it 
does.  VERY helpful when you are trying to figure out what it reading, 
updating, etc.  Maybe this might help.
